Home! 01/31/2012
After almost 5 weeks in hospital,I finally get home to play with my computers. The first three weeks were pretty grim and even now I am looking forward to weeks of treatment on my wound. Still, all will have been worth it if I can return to full health within a few months! Add Comment Operation 12/23/2011
The big event:Operation on the 28th.Dec to remove the offending tumour and hopefully give me my life back! Yorkshire Tour! 11/27/2011
Starting on the 13th.Dec I have a Pet/CT scan at St. James,Leeds, followed by an MRI scan in Dewsbury on the 26th;then a trip to Pinderfields in Wakefield to see the surgeon on the 20th,to find out what he proposes to do! Just about back to feeling normal now so am hoping he can keep me this way. Progress! 11/06/2011
Eight days since my treatment finished and,at last, the bowel cramps caused by the radiotherapy, are less frequent and more bearable. In the last couple of days I have actually been able to ENJOY a few glasses of wine in the evening, and am starting to feel less tired,so all in all,I'm pleased to be getting back to normality! Completion. 10/29/2011
After 5 weeks of treatment I finally had my last Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy last evening;so nice to think of no more hospital visits,at least for a while! The chemo takes about 3 weeks to clear the system so I will tentatively have a glass of wine this evening-the first for 5 weeks!A scan will be arranged in the next few weeks after which the Surgeon will remove the damn thing....but for now, life can return to somewhere near normal. What a relief! Getting there! 10/17/2011
A nice thought:number of treatments is down to single figures, with nine more sessions to go.If I can get to the end of this week without feeling much worse then the last week should pass quickly enough---counting down from 5 from next Monday. Two down,Three to go! 10/08/2011
My ChemoRadiotherapy is from Monday to Friday for 5 weeks and after the first 2 weeks I'm relieved to feel pretty good, with just a minor skin problem ,so far. The biggest pain has been waiting for the ambulance,to and from the hospital. St.James 09/26/2011
Had my first of 25 treatments at St.James Hospital today---back home within 2hours and completely painless.I know I will suffer fatigue and skin problems during the treatment but this first day has eased my mind a little! All SET 09/16/2011
A dummy run next Friday for R/Therapy positioning and to pick up my meds, then treatment starts on the following Monday--5 days a week for 5 weeks.Never looked forward to Christmas quite so much! Treatment 09/09/2011
Had my first appointment at St. James to discuss treatment for my Rectal Cancer---involves another scan and two more appointments before the treatment begins in about 3 weeks;much info to absorb...must admit,a bit daunting! | Daniel MaherAfter working as a Musician for 40 years,am now entertaining myself -with the help of the computer!
