New Captain for ODI's 06/26/2008

Kevin Pietersen will captain England in the final match of their one-day series against New Zealand on Saturday.

The South Africa-born batting star will take over from Paul Collingwood, who was given a four-match ban because of a slow over-rate during Thursday's match.

Pietersen, who turns 28 on Friday, has been England's unofficial vice-captain in one-day cricket since June 2007.

He said: "Captaining England has been a dream of mine but I understand that I'm assuming the role in Paul's absence.

Yoks and Durham in tense TIE 06/23/2008

Durham's Gareth Breese lashed a six off the last ball of the match for a thrilling tie in the Twenty20 Cup clash with Yorkshire at Headingley Carnegie.

The point took the Dynamos to the top of the North group, the spot Yorkshire would have occupied had they won.

Chasing 160 to win, Durham needed 12 off the last three balls to win.

Liam Plunkett drove a boundary through the leg side and added a single before Breese cleared the extra cover fence with Tim Bresnan's final ball.

Yorkshire's 2nd win in the Twenty20 came on the last ball of the match last night when Taylor hit a six to ensure victory.
The weather looks like putting paid to the game against Lancs tonight--already the ODI with NZ looks like failing to start!
