Jacques Rudolph smashed a career-best 228 not out as Yorkshire took full control against Durham at Headingley.

The home side resumed on 304-2 and Rudolph and Anthony McGrath (105) took their third-wicket partnership to 206 before the latter was run out.

Ruldolph then shared a century stand with Andrew Gale (41) as Yorkshire declared on 610-6.

In reply Adil Rashid took two wickets in two balls as Durham closed on 54-3, still 556 runs behind.

Rashid got rid of Will Smith (8) and nightwatchman Mark Davies, as he finished the day with 2-6 from three overs.
